FAQs
-
Yes, I do offer natural labor promotion. Acupuncture has been shown to be a safe and effective way to facilitate natural labor onset. Acupuncture can help by softening the cervix, optimizing baby’s position and preparing your body for labor. Most of my natural labor promotion patients have avoided medical induction this way.

Yes, I do offer acupuncture and moxibustion for turning breech babies. This is best done between 34 and 36 weeks although it can be helpful in later weeks if there is room for the baby to turn. I will do acupuncture and teach you how to self administer moxibustion on an acupuncture point on your foot. Moxibustion is recognized as an evidence-based practice for turning breech babies and I have seen it work well.

Yes! I love seeing all my fertility and pregnancy patients for labor preparation starting around week 36-37. Research has shown that people who receive prebirth acupuncture treatments had a more efficient birth with shorter time in labor. Acupuncture supports an optimal baby position, cervical ripening, relaxation and improved energy.

The postpartum period is a time of intense hormonal changes with an increased risk for depression and anxiety. Acupuncture can be helpful for addressing symptoms like anger, mood swings, crying, sadness/depression, agitation and anxiety. Acupuncture can also address common postpartum conditions like low milk production, fatigue, night sweats, pain and nervous system regulation.
Compassionate, Gentle Support at Every Stage of Pregnancy
“As far as I'm concerned, Karen is a miracle worker! I was struggling with sciatica throughout my second pregnancy, I was in a great deal of pain, having issues walking comfortably. After only 4 sessions with Karen, my sciatica pain is completely gone and I am moving around comfortably despite my large 3rd trimester belly! Karen has a very kind and comforting presence, is a great listener, and I always leave each session feeling well cared for and relaxed.”
