About Karuna Acupuncture

Karuna | Compassion

Meet Dr. Karen Lang, DAc, LAc, FABORM

Hi! I’m Karen (she/her) and I am the owner, acupuncturist and chief-of-just-about-everything here at Karuna Acupuncture.

I am passionate about helping people live their best life and I’ve found that acupuncture is an incredible way to do just that. In fact, acupuncture was so transformational for my own health and well-being that I decided to go back to school in 2010 and get a graduate degree in acupuncture from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine. I also have a Doctorate in Acupuncture from Five Branches University.

I am a board-certified acupuncturist through NCCAOM, am licensed to practice acupuncture in the state of Colorado, and am also a certified Maya Abdominal Therapist.

I have had a long love affair with Colorado and in 2019 I closed my busy Atlanta acupuncture practice and my wife and I moved to Longmont. I have not stopped smiling yet!

When I am not in the clinic, you'll find me hiking, biking, running, and soaking up all our Colorado goodness.

Specialized Care for Fertility, Hormones & Mental Health

I specialize in reproductive health, fertility, and mental health.

As a board-certified Fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (FABORM), I have advanced training in optimizing fertility, integrating acupuncture with IUI/IVF, addressing conditions like endometriosis and PCOS, providing holistic prenatal and postpartum care, and helping you navigate peri/menopause with ease.

As a former social worker, I love using acupuncture to address anxiety, depression, and other trauma responses.

I have a graduate degree in social work and before becoming an acupuncturist, I spent 20 years working in the field of sexual assault prevention and response. I am still passionate about ending sexual and domestic violence, and working with trauma survivors is one of my greatest joys.

Why Karuna?

Wondering what karuna means?

Karuna is a Sanskrit word that is generally translated as “compassion.” It is a foundational value and guiding principle for my work here at Karuna Acupuncture.

Compassion is at the heart of everything we do. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, heard, and cared for as we work together toward your health and wellness goals.

Meet Ellie Mae

Office Manager & Office-Dog-in-Training

Ellie Mae is Karuna Acupuncture’s Office Manager and office-dog-in-training. She is a quiet soul who loves people. If she is working at the clinic when you come in she will happily greet you and accept any head pets you care to give her.

Most of the time she manages things remotely while also keeping a close eye on the squirrels.
