Karuna | Compassion
Hi. My name is Karen (she/her) and I am the owner, acupuncturist and chief-of-just-about-everything here at Karuna Acupuncture.
I am passionate about helping people live their best life and I’ve found that acupuncture is an incredible way to do just that. In fact, acupuncture was so transformational for my own health and well-being that I decided to go back to school in 2010 and get a graduate degree in acupuncture from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine. I am board a board-certified acupuncturist through NCCAOM and am licensed to practice acupuncture in the state of Colorado. I am also a certified Maya Abdominal Therapist.
I specialize in reproductive health, fertility and mental health. As a Fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (FABORM) I have advanced training in optimizing fertility, integrating acupuncture with IUI/IVF, addressing conditions like endometriosis and PCOS, providing holistic prenatal and postpartum care, as well as in helping you navigate peri/menopause with ease. As a former social worker I love using acupuncture to address anxiety, depression and other trauma responses.
I have had a long love affair with Colorado and in 2019 I closed my busy Atlanta acupuncture practice and my wife and I moved to Longmont. I have not stopped smiling yet!
I have a graduate degree in social work and before becoming an acupuncturist, I spent 20 years working in the field of sexual assault prevention and response. I am still passionate about ending sexual and domestic violence and working with trauma survivors is one of my greatest joys.
Wondering what karuna means? Karuna is a Sanskrit word that is generally translated as “compassion.” It is a foundational value and guiding principle for my work here at Karuna Acupuncture.
When I am not in the clinic you’ll find me out hiking, biking, running and soaking up all our Colorado goodness.
Meet the Office Manager
This is Ollie. He is the Office Manager here at Karuna Acupuncture but generally works remotely so he can keep on eye on the squirrels and other things at home. It’s a big job but he handles it well. When he is not managing operations at Karuna he enjoys hiking, barking at Prairie Dogs and getting belly rubs.
